Used Cadilliac @ Sein und Werden's Last Chance Filling Station

This was a step up from what I had before, an old used Borgward station wagon driven across the mountains of Pennsylvania, barely, to Iowa City and a home on Coralville Ave across from the Iowa River, the railroad and the cement plant.  I did find in the copious junkyards of Coralville  spare steering gear and other parts. They still made them in Mexico. My next car was an NSU Prinz, the one with the rotary engine, which was later, after moving to Fayetteville North Carolina, found to have a used piston, this in a new car. The remedy there was to buy an MGB roadster and tow the Prinz back to the bank in Iowa City that owned it. This was in the still of the night w/o license plates, which bank graciously took it back if I'd make the payments current, and did. When the serial six volt batteries under the back seat fell out of MGB and the starter needed to be rocked in gear to catch, I got a VW Bug, then a Dasher, Honda, Suburu, Toyota, Nissan and counting. That fictional Cadillac was the only American car I ever had here
