Scientist Kurk Wold is emblematic of all those missing microbiologists, missing and murdered, and otherwise of the captive scientists nobody hears about, captive or blackmailed or otherwise controlled by corporations, government, and military, Mouser Kent and military, who conduct experiments in the unthinkable. Nobody seems to credit their existence, but several offshoots of this larger torso sometimes called The Severed Head have appeared, as here, "on the condition that we make some mechanical edits." It's good they didn't see the original. This is a messy business. It may help to remember that in that age the nation of Science had replaced the four earthly kingdoms of Daniel which preoccupied the medieval mind. Ending with Rome, transitioning to England/Britain and America, Science was the last global domination, the ultimate nation-state. A lot of this is new or old news depending on who you read. While Kurk Wold's letters were rejected by the journals, sundry authorities in the science world paid him well, but not to tell... the file has been deleted. Wold, scientist, prisoner, whistle blower worked in the intermediate levels of the Mouser Airpark and below. These letters smuggled out to a friend beyond the walls were transmitted to us for translation from notes in the form of shorthand, overwritings and whatnots, put into at least this much coherence by the translator. There is some background to Wold's situation, but it is always changing from the new documents that come to light.
