Amarant @ Penny's Poetry Blog

The mind of spice that fills the heart
Amaranthus has been around 8000 years, this poem 48. Written 3 July 1972, last in that Calendar of Encouragements, it now appears online at the inestimable Penny. There was never such a phrase as THE MIND OF SPICE THAT FILLS THE HEART in English before it appeared in Penny. Totally original with that utterance it speaks of a rest like that where "I shall consider in my dwelling place as a clear heat upon herbs." To wind about a disembodied cross Sherwood Anderson and the Galatians Letter, "The idea is very simple, so simple that if you are not careful you will forget it. It is this—that everyone in the world is Christ and they are all crucified."  here
